What makes a room right for this

A dinner is twelve people at one table, early in the week, when a good kitchen is at its quietest. We take a fixed menu, we tell you the numbers in advance, and we pay per head on the night. No room hire, no minimum spend, no deposit. These are the things that tend to make an evening like that work.

Sarthi is a vegetarian and vegan Indian restaurant on Walcot Street, in a Grade II listed former church. The kitchen's roots are in a Gujarati village, and the menu covers a lot of India: chaat and pani puri, South Indian dosas served with sambhar and coconut chutney, curries, dum biryani and tandoori plates, all free of meat, fish and egg. Starters run about £7 to £10 and curries £13.75 to £15.45, with gluten free and nut free versions of most dishes. The room is large, with a private area used for events, and dinner is served from 5pm seven nights a week.
