Wells Road, Totterdown

BANK occupies a converted Lloyds bank branch on Wells Road in Totterdown, opened in 2021 and relaunched in spring 2023 around a menu built on open-fire cooking, led day to day by head chef and co-owner Jack Briggs-Horan (a second co-owner, Dan O'Regan, is recorded in this series' existing research but was not independently corroborated this pass). SquareMeal named it to its Top 100 UK restaurants list for 2025 -- real, recent critical recognition for a young kitchen built around a genuinely distinctive format: live-fire cooking rather than a conventional pass, front and centre of the dining room.
This pass resolves, rather than repeats, the existing research's flagged "Mon/Tue hours conflict": every independent source checked here -- Hardens, First Table, and the venue's own published schedule as reflected across aggregators -- agrees BANK is closed both Monday and Tuesday without exception, trading Wednesday through Saturday (Hardens specifically notes Wed/Thu opening at 6pm, Fri/Sat from midday) and a shorter Sunday 12-5pm. There is no conflicting source suggesting otherwise; this is a clean, confirmed closure rather than an open question, and it runs directly counter to this series' early-week target -- worth naming plainly rather than hoping a call might turn up a hidden Monday service.
Hardens independently puts capacity at 45 covers, above the brief's 20-to-40-cover target range, meaning a 10-cover booking would be a smaller slice of the room than at most other candidates in this batch. The existing research's "9+ enquiry process, room unconfirmed" note stands: this pass's attempt to reach BANK's own private-hire page returned only a bare page header with no further detail, so the exact private-room offer, if any, remains unverified and would need a direct call. Totterdown itself is a steep, brightly-painted residential hillside neighbourhood just south of the city centre, with Wells Road as its main food-and-drink spine alongside Smokebox and Truffled of Totterdown.
